What Today Really Means

Ever have one of those days...a roller coaster of life where events unfold leaving you breathless by days end...that is what today was for me. Well actually to be honest I would have to say the last few days.

Good and not so good, but at days end I have to say that life, although pretty turbulent at times is not so bad. I have my health, my family, my wits, and I cannot really complain as these are the things that really matter to me.

Today I was so wrapped up in the ups and downs that my husband had to pull one of his "life is not that bad speeches" on me. It worked, and as our conversation turned from our lives to my work (part of what had me up in arms today), my husband asked me the ultimate life pausing question...why did I found the non profit.

He did not do it to be rude or to question my judgement; he was genuinely interested in what drove me to this action and why I continue to push through. My first thoughts were that I wanted to do good for others, help in a way, but I have to agree with him that that is a lame answer that sounds like something given on the stage of a beauty pageant. No offense pageant participants...I was thinking of Miss Congeniality where they keep asking them what they would like to do for others and they all answer world peace, and this actually popped in my mind when he called me on this! What I really mean is that this is an answer that most people would give...I really believe that most people would like to do well by others, whether it be family and friends or society in general, but I realized today that there is something deeper inside me driving me on. When it comes down to it yes I want to make this world a better place and yes I want to give my children and all future generations a better "inheritance" to deal with, but really what drives me is the maddening realization that people are really taking advantage of others in regards to information or propaganda that we are "spoon fed" in regards to our environment, our health, and our options. It is wrong and I want to do something about it.

So bottom line...what today really meant for me in the middle of all its chaos is a clear understanding of why I do what I do.

The information is out there ladies and gentlemen...we just need to know how to distinguish fact from fiction and make better decisions that have a direct impact on us now and in the future. I am dedicated to dragging this truth to the forefront and ensuring that everyone I talk to at least understands how to distinguish fact from fiction and make better decisions that really have a positive impact on their life and the lives of others here on Earth.

Let's take a stand - educate ourselves together so that we have the knowledge to make better decisions - let's stop letting people take advantage of our good nature, and force our leaders to do better by us.

Let's Talk About It

I never imagined five years ago that I would be blogging. For one I never thought I would have the time, and honestly I did not really understand the value of a blog so it seemed like a waste of good time. The idea is a bit bizarre - to get on the Internet and share our personal thoughts and opinions with people we do not know, but I guess it is all in the way you see things. The last two years I have watched blogs evolve, and have even taken part in social media sites, expanding my knowledge of social media and realizing its potential in the hands of those who have a cause they support.

For me this blog is an opportunity to share my own passions and ideas of living a healthier life with like minded people who feel that improving our personal health is important and necessary. Hopefully through this blog and the discussions that come from it, we can educate one another on ways to live longer, healthier lives. I welcome comments and suggestions of all kinds, including differing, and look forward to learning together as we go along.

I truly believe that through education comes change...let's work together to discover what we can do to live longer, healthier lives.
